What does this offer comparison actually tell you?

Manufacturing Headhunters built the offer checker for the moment a hiring manager has an amount to approve but needs to understand its published wage context. Choose the occupation mapping and destination area before entering the offer. The result describes its position between released BLS points. It does not predict acceptance or assign a precise percentile to an amount between them.

Enter compensation that fits the wage definition shown beside the input. Keep overtime, relocation reimbursement and discretionary payments out of that comparison. If an approval sheet blends those items into an annual total, separate them first. Otherwise the marker can look competitive because it includes money the published wage measure does not count.

The optional current-pay marker serves a different purpose from the offer marker. It helps you see the difference between two amounts you entered, not whether the candidate's current employer reports to this survey or uses the same pay structure. A person may still decline an increase because the proposed shift or maintenance callout responsibility changes their week.

Read the area actually used in the result. A fallback is labeled when the selected local estimate is unavailable. A state or national reference is broader evidence, not a reconstructed local figure. Where BLS publishes a lower bound instead of an exact upper wage, the tool cannot tell you how far above that boundary an offer stands.

Take the result into a conversation about the opening rather than sending a screenshot as a promise. Check reporting authority, shift expectations and the reason the candidate would leave steady work. If the offer sits below the median, decide whether the brief expects responsibilities the budget does not support. If pay is strong but candidates hesitate, examine the job itself.

Will an offer above the published median close the candidate?

Not necessarily. The median describes wages in an occupation and area, not the reservation pay of the person you want. Ask what the move changes in their schedule, responsibilities and commute before treating a favorable band as an acceptance forecast.
