Manufacturing pay, straight from the BLS

Manufacturing Headhunters uses the published BLS OEWS figures below. They describe the mapped occupation and area, not an individual offer.

This is what we do all day: recruit manufacturing professionals.

Public Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics, released 2026-05-15. Every figure names its BLS occupation. We do not estimate, adjust or fill gaps. Free to read, no email.

When one occupation would give the wrong answer?

These titles can describe different kinds of work. We have not assigned a BLS occupation without knowing the duties. Ask us for a current range.

How does pay compare in the target metros?

What should you know about tools?

Occupation-wide BLS data is not an offer for a particular plant role. How we map roles and handle gaps.

How should a plant use this salary guide?

Manufacturing Headhunters uses this guide to help employers check a pay conversation against a published occupation, not to price a person from their job title. Begin with the work you need done. A controls technician diagnosing a stopped line is not automatically the same hire as an engineer designing its next control system.

Pick the responsibility first, then inspect the mapping beside the figures.

The role browser follows manufacturing titles, while the wage tables follow the Bureau of Labor Statistics occupation system. That distinction matters when a narrow plant job sits inside a broader occupation. Read the mapping note before using the median in an approval request. It tells you what the estimate covers and where it cannot separate your particular seat from neighboring work.

Move from the national view to the area where the person will work. A relocation search still needs a destination budget, even when the candidate lives elsewhere today. Compare the published spread rather than assuming a national midpoint will settle a local offer. If a local cell is missing, its absence is not evidence of a low wage or an empty labor market.

Use the tools for separate decisions. The offer checker places an amount beside released percentile points. The vacancy calculator adds costs you provide. The comparison view keeps occupations and locations visible together. The posting-range tool provides a clearly sourced band. None can tell you whether a particular person will accept your shift, manager or commute.

Before you brief a recruiter, write down which duties require someone already proven and which can be learned after joining. Keep overtime, benefit choices and relocation support separate from the wage estimate. Bring that brief to the recruiting conversation so the discussion stays about an actual opening rather than an unsupported market average.

Should I select the closest-looking title or the closest work?

Choose the work. Check the SOC description and mapping note, especially where a plant title combines technical duties and supervision. A familiar label is not enough to make a wage estimate specific to your opening.
