What should you know about manufacturing pay mix?
For Robotics Technician, write the straight-time rate separately from shift coverage and extra hours. OEWS measures straight-time gross wages, not pure base salary or total compensation. It includes base rate, guaranteed pay, commissions and production bonuses. It excludes overtime, shift differentials, nonproduction bonuses and benefits.
An attendance bonus is not a production bonus; confirm its purpose and treatment rather than adding every bonus to the BLS figure. Skills-based pay steps affect the base rate when they are part of straight-time pay; BLS does not publish a separate rate for each plant's skill grade. Ask whether a tool allowance is expense reimbursement or wage pay. OEWS does not publish a separate tool-allowance component. Keep these items separate in the offer so the published wage is not mistaken for the whole package.
Pay mix here means how published medians for this one BLS occupation differ across manufacturing industries and against the all-industry median. It does not split pay into base, incentive or overtime. BLS wages are straight-time gross pay and exclude overtime, shift differentials and nonproduction bonuses.
What should you know about two BLS releases?
| Release period | 25th | Median | 75th |
|---|---|---|---|
| May 2024 | $56,750 | $71,300 | $85,160 |
| May 2025 | $60,040 | $74,090 | $88,710 |
These are two separate BLS estimates from different survey panels. The workers and employers behind them differ, so the gap is not like-for-like pay for the same workers and is not a growth rate. We show no percentage change.
What should you know about supervisory and worker occupations?
BLS publishes these as separate occupations. Pay for one is not a pay step for the other.
- Supervisor occupation: Maintenance Manager pay (SOC 49-1011)
Recruiter's read. Qualitative, not BLS data.
What should you know about fit versus title?
Robot Technician and Robotic Maintenance Technician often sound alike. In one plant the title means programming and tuning. In another it means mechanical care and basic recovery. We ask which tasks the person does alone and match them to your cells.
What should you know about questions?
Wages for the OEWS survey are straight-time, gross pay, exclusive of premium pay. Base rate; cost-of-living allowances; guaranteed pay; hazardous-duty pay; incentive pay, including commissions and production bonuses; and tips are included. Excluded are overtime pay, severance pay, shift differentials, nonproduction bonuses, employer cost for supplementary benefits, and tuition reimbursements.
What is the median pay for a Robotics Technician?
The median annual wage for Electrical and Electronics Repairers, Commercial and Industrial Equipment in the United States was $74,090 (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, OEWS, May 2025). The middle half of workers earned between $60,040 and $88,710. This is the closest proxy BLS publishes, not a figure for this exact title.
What does the 10th percentile mean here?
10% of workers in this occupation and area earned less than $46,840. 90% earned less than $105,590.
Does this include overtime or bonuses?
Wages for the OEWS survey are straight-time, gross pay, exclusive of premium pay. Base rate; cost-of-living allowances; guaranteed pay; hazardous-duty pay; incentive pay, including commissions and production bonuses; and tips are included. Excluded are overtime pay, severance pay, shift differentials, nonproduction bonuses, employer cost for supplementary benefits, and tuition reimbursements.
Is this the pay for a Robotics Technician at a plant?
The Robotics Technician title maps to the published occupation. BLS does not separate this process, credential, shift or plant-specific title from other work in the occupation. These are occupation estimates across all industries, not an offer for a particular manufacturing title.
How many people work in this occupation?
BLS estimated 65,010 workers employed in this occupation in the United States.
What should you know about related?
What does this data mean for your opening?
Robotics Technicians are classified within SOC 49-2094, with a national median salary of $74,090 as of the May 2025 release. For Robotics Technician in the United States, releases are separate survey estimates. The May 2025 median is $74,090; the May 2024 median is $71,300. Their arithmetic difference is $2,790.
They are not the same workers' raises and do not establish a pay trend or its cause. The occupation has a middle-band width of $28,670, defined by a 25th percentile of $60,040 and a 75th percentile of $88,710. Manufacturing Headhunters observes that these figures aggregate broad electrical repair duties, meaning the process-specific complexities of robot mastering or safety circuit validation are not captured separately in the data. Pay components excluded from these figures include stock options, hazard pay for specific environments, and relocation assistance often bundled into modern technical packages.
In the primary comparison metros, Houston-Pasadena-The Woodlands, TX, displays a median of $77,880, while Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX, stands at $73,530. The middle-band width for Houston is $38,900, significantly wider than the $25,830 width observed in Dallas. On a national industry level, Aerospace Product and Parts Manufacturing shows a median of $109,570, while Petroleum and Coal Products Manufacturing reports a median of $105,590. These industry figures are national benchmarks and should not be confused with localized hourly or annual pay for a specific robotics service contract.
The employment concentration for this occupational grouping is shown by the location quotient, which is 3.41 in Houston and 1.72 in Dallas. These quotients do not measure candidate availability or specific local wage pressure. Because the BLS does not distinguish between industrial robotics maintenance and commercial electronics repair, the data represents a broader set of technicians than those exclusively focused on industrial robot controllers or articulated robot controllers integration. For Robotics Technician in the United States, releases are separate survey estimates. The May 2025 median is $74,090; the May 2024 median is $71,300. Their arithmetic difference is $2,790. They are not the same workers' raises and do not establish a pay trend or its cause.
Which pay questions should you settle before hiring?
As of the May 2025 release, the national median salary for this occupation is $74,090. For Robotics Technician in the United States, releases are separate survey estimates. The May 2025 median is $74,090; the May 2024 median is $71,300. Their arithmetic difference is $2,790.
What is the national median salary for the Robotics Technician role?
As of the May 2025 release, the national median salary for this occupation is $74,090. For Robotics Technician in the United States, releases are separate survey estimates. The May 2025 median is $74,090; the May 2024 median is $71,300. Their arithmetic difference is $2,790. They are not the same workers' raises and do not establish a pay trend or its cause.
How do the middle-band widths compare between Houston and Dallas?
Houston features a middle-band width of $38,900, which is larger than the $25,830 middle-band width in Dallas. These figures represent the spread between the 25th and 75th percentiles.
Are industry-specific medians for Aerospace and Petroleum reflective of local salaries?
No, the industry medians, such as $109,570 for Aerospace, are strictly national benchmarks. They do not correlate to local annual wages for a specific Robotics Technician role.
