Machine Vision Engineer Recruiters
Manufacturing Headhunters recruits manufacturing professionals nationwide.
This is what we do all day: recruit manufacturing professionals.
No postings. No stacks of resumes. No chasing. You interview a short list.
No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire.

A machine vision engineer hire usually follows a quality escape: a mislabeled carton that reached a customer, a solder defect the inspection missed, a camera that rejects good parts every time the afternoon sun hits the dock door. No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire.

The hiring decision
What makes this hire work on your plant floor?
Most failed inspections are lighting failures. We ask how they chose between dark field, coaxial, backlight or dome illumination, how they selected lens focal length and working distance, and how they handled reflective parts or shifting ambient light. Strong candidates describe a physical solution first and a software filter last.
A machine vision engineer hire usually follows a quality escape: a mislabeled carton that reached a customer, a solder defect the inspection missed, a camera that rejects good parts every time the afternoon sun hits the dock door. We look for the engineer who fixes the lighting and optics first, then tunes the software, and leaves a system your operators trust.
We ask which product lines the candidate deployed, such as embedded vision cameras, PC-based vision tools, or the configurable vision systems XG and CV series, and whether they built jobs in spreadsheet mode, vision tools, or deep learning modules.

Before an introduction
What do we check before you interview?
Detection means little if the bad part ships. We probe how the candidate tied results to PLC outputs, reject gates, diverters and line stops, how they handled bad part tracking through conveyors, and what they logged for traceability. We also ask how they prevented false rejects from becoming a reason operators bypass the system.

Validation and measurement discipline
A vision inspection needs evidence it works. For regulated plants we ask how they documented the inspection so an auditor could review it.
Environment fit: electronics, packaging or other
We match the candidate's applications to your product, conveyor speeds and washdown or dust conditions, rather than assume a vision engineer transfers everywhere.
Ownership after commissioning
Cameras drift, lenses get bumped, and someone changes a label stock. We listen for who maintained the system after the integrator left, whether they trained technicians to recalibrate, and whether they kept backups of every job. Red flags are systems the candidate describes only on the day they were installed.

Direct search
Where are qualified people working now?
Experienced vision engineers sit in a few places. Integrators who specialize in inspection spend years applying cameras to other plants' problems and often want the depth of owning one product line. Electronics assembly plants and packaging plants run dense inspection stations across many lines, and the engineers who maintain them have seen most failure modes.
We also contact controls and quality engineers who became the plant's de facto camera person because nobody else would touch it. These people frequently know your product better than a pure vision specialist. We reach out privately, describe the inspection challenge in general terms, and share your plant identity only after interest is confirmed.
Which hiring mistakes should you avoid?
Platform depth on industrial vision cameras or configurable vision systems. A person who only reloaded saved jobs is not the same as one who built the inspection from a blank screen. Validation and measurement discipline. We ask for how they built a golden sample set, ran gauge repeatability studies, set pass fail limits against specification, and revalidated after a change.

The search
How the search runs?
We begin by asking what you inspect, what escapes today, which camera platform you already own and who supports it. That tells us whether you need a builder of new inspections, a sustainer of existing ones, or a hybrid who can also train technicians.
Agree the brief

Approach relevant people
We then write the brief around your products and line conditions. Each candidate is interviewed on lighting choices, reject handling and validation before your team sees a summary.
Qualify the work and support the hire
We pass along the technical detail so your quality and controls leaders can build a focused second conversation. We suggest that finalists tour the lab and pilot plant, because how a candidate reacts to your equipment and housekeeping tells you more than any presentation. Our fee is a percentage of first year base, agreed in writing before work starts, and payable only if you hire.

What else affects this Machine Vision Engineer hire?
Yes: Outreach describes the inspection challenge and the plant type without your name. If you are replacing someone who still works for you, we keep that detail out of every conversation and share the company identity only with candidates who ask to proceed.
When would I owe a fee?
Only when someone we introduced accepts your offer and starts. Interviews, second visits to your plant and rejected candidates carry no charge. The written terms signed at the beginning cover the invoice timing.
Is the search confidential?

Can you find vision engineers who are not on the market?
That is the usual case. Good vision engineers are quietly busy fixing inspections and seldom update profiles. We call them, ask about the system they are most proud of, and see whether your cameras, products and responsibilities are better than what they have.
What about relocation for this role?
Vision engineers are scarce enough that many searches involve relocation. We raise cost of living, housing and spouse employment early. Some candidates prefer travel heavy integrator work, so we tell them honestly whether your role is based at one plant.
Which titles do you consider?
Vision systems engineer is the main alternate. We also consider controls engineers and quality engineers whose primary work was camera inspection, and technicians who built and maintained vision stations. We judge by the inspections they have built, not the title on their badge.

The Six-Step Search
What do you get before interviewing?
1. Search CalibrationYou get a hiring brief that separates the work, reporting authority and non-negotiable requirements. We agree what would make a candidate worth an interview before contacting anyone. 2. Market MappingYou get a defined search pool, not a reposted vacancy.
1. Search Calibration
You get a hiring brief that separates the work, reporting authority and non-negotiable requirements. We agree what would make a candidate worth an interview before contacting anyone.
2. Market Mapping
You get a defined search pool, not a reposted vacancy. We identify the kinds of plants and teams where people already handle comparable equipment, processes and operating demands.
3. Professional Contact Intelligence
You get a way to reach working people directly. We check professional contact routes and approach candidates discreetly, without making your plant or vacancy public unless you approve.
4. Persistent Personalized Outreach
You get individual conversations about the actual opening. We explain the work, shift and location, ask whether a move makes sense, and follow up without pretending every person is interested.
5. Live Candidate Qualification
You get evidence of fit before spending interview time. We talk through decisions, equipment, results and reasons for moving, then distinguish direct experience from skills that would need support.
6. Candidate Intelligence and Process Support
You get a focused short list with the information behind it. We explain motivation, practical constraints and concerns, support interviews, and keep offer decisions with your hiring team.
What should we discuss first?
It is a percentage of the first year base salary, set in a written agreement before the search starts. We do not charge a retainer for your vision engineer search. The percentage is the same regardless of how many candidates we present.

What should you know before sending machine vision engineer?
When do you pay a recruiting fee?
No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire. The signed recruiting agreement sets the fee basis and payment terms. Sending an opening does not itself commit you to a fee or an exclusive arrangement.
How long does it take to see a short list?
We discuss the search conditions before describing a realistic next step. Shift, location, equipment match and the candidate's reasons for moving all matter. We do not promise a shortlist date before understanding the opening.
How do you handle counteroffers?
We ask what is driving the move before introducing a candidate. We discuss what might change if the current employer offers more money or a different job. Your team still decides whether that person's motivation fits the opening.
What replacement terms apply?
We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.
What do you not do?
We do not bill hourly for a standard permanent search, repost a job-board ad as a search, or supply high-volume general labor. Retainers are not the default. Any different arrangement must be agreed in writing.
