Reshoring or Nearshoring Production
Need someone now? Call 954-645-8032.
Moving production back to the United States, or closer to it through Mexico, sounds like a sourcing decision until the first part is supposed to ship. Then the work becomes a people problem. Drawings do not carry the tribal knowledge that lived in the old plant, the tooling arrived without the setup sheets, and the team that knew how to make the product is half a world away. We help employers hire the engineers, startup leaders, and supply chain managers who can rebuild that knowledge on a new floor and make the move stick. No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire.
No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire. We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.

The hiring problem and what postings miss
Hire for knowledge transfer, not just capacity
A manufacturing engineer who has pulled a process out of one plant and made it run in another is rare. We look for people who documented the real process, not the drawing: fixtures, operator tricks, in-process checks, and the quality escapes that taught the old plant what mattered. Ask them how they decided what to capture before the old team left.
Choose a startup leader who has run a relocation
A plant startup manager working on moved work faces different pressures than one opening a new product line. Customers are watching, qualification steps repeat, and the workforce is learning something another group already knew. We screen for leaders who stayed through requalification and customer approvals.
Do not neglect sourcing and supply chain
Bringing work home changes who supplies you. Strategic sourcing and supply chain leaders need real experience re-qualifying domestic or regional suppliers, working through tariffs and customs, and handling cross-border logistics. We ask candidates which suppliers they replaced and how they handled the qualification burden.
Account for border realities
A border operation depends on bilingual leadership, an understanding of maquiladora and shelter arrangements, and comfort with two labor markets. Candidates should be able to describe how they manage a plant with a remote corporate team and a binational workforce. Language and cultural fit are hiring criteria, not courtesies.
Check the labor fit honestly
Wages, skill depth, and turnover differ across regions. Candidates who assume a domestic plant will look like the one being closed often struggle. Look for someone who has trained a workforce on unfamiliar processes and adapted work instructions to what operators actually needed.
Qualify the work again on the new floor
Moved work often has to be revalidated with the customer, through first article inspection or production part approval, even if the part is unchanged. Engineers who treat this as paperwork underestimate the weeks of trials involved. We ask candidates how they handled customer requalification and what failed the first time.
Roles involved
- Plant Startup / Launch Manager
- Manufacturing Engineer
- VP of Supply Chain / Director of Supply Chain
- Strategic Sourcing Manager
What the right background looks like
Leaders for moved work often come from plants that did the same thing earlier, from manufacturers with sites on both sides of the border, and from equipment and tooling suppliers who supported installs and trials. Engineers who traveled to transfer lines tend to know more about the process than anyone left on a corporate project team.
We also reach supply chain and sourcing leaders at companies with strong regional supplier networks. These candidates are usually already employed and approached directly rather than through a job ad.
Cross-border experience is a narrow pool. Some leaders have worked on both sides of the border for years and move between plants easily, while others only understand one. We separate the two through direct conversation and ask for specifics about the plants, the customers, and how each handled logistics and compliance on either side.

How this manufacturing search runs
We begin by understanding what is moving, what stays, and who holds the knowledge today. We map the roles you need on the new floor against the roles that already exist, and decide where outside hires fill gaps and where promoted insiders can lead.
We then approach candidates directly, screen against their transfer and requalification history, and share a short list with notes on cross-border or domestic fit. Priorities and order of hiring are set after the briefing.
Because moved work involves existing staff elsewhere, we handle communication carefully. We can recruit for the new site without alerting the plant being wound down, and we agree what each candidate may be told about timing, headcount, and the nature of the transfer before any outreach begins.
Questions about Reshoring or Nearshoring Production searches
What is your fee for this kind of search?
A percentage of the hire's first-year base salary, agreed in writing before the search starts. We charge no upfront fee.
Do we pay if we only make one hire from several searches?
You pay only for the hires you actually make. A search that does not result in a hire from us costs nothing.
Can the plan to move production stay quiet?
Yes: If the old plant has not been told, we run the search without naming the company, the product, or the sites, and we use confidentiality agreements before details are shared.
Will you contact people who already work in the region?
Yes: Most of the people who can lead a relocation are employed and not looking, so we contact them directly and explain the project in confidence.
Do hires need to relocate to the border or a new state?
Often: We discuss relocation and commuting at the briefing and again before offers, so candidates and families understand the move.
Can an engineer from the closing plant fill the new roles?
Sometimes, and keeping that knowledge is valuable. We assess adjacent titles and tell you where an internal engineer needs outside leadership around them.
What replacement guarantee applies?
We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.

Questions employers ask
When do you pay a recruiting fee?
No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire. We agree the fee basis and payment terms in writing before starting. Sending the form does not commit you to a search.
How long does it take to see a short list?
It depends on the job, location and people available. We discuss next steps after learning about your opening, rather than promising a date before we know the job.
How do you handle counteroffers?
We ask why candidates want to move and what could change their minds. We keep that conversation going through interviews and the offer.
What replacement terms apply?
We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.
What do you not do?
We do not supply high-volume general labor or bill hourly for a standard permanent search. Retainers are not the default. Any different arrangement must be agreed in writing.
